Working With An Auto Dealer

About a year ago, I realized we were going to need to invest in a new family vehicle. The car that we had was dying fast, and I was worried about my wife getting to and from all of the places that she needed to travel. We started looking around for different places to shop, and I found an auto dealer that was absolutely incredible. I worked with them to negotiate a fair price for the car, and I learned a few tricks along the way. This blog is all about negotiating effectively with an automotive dealer, so that you don't end up with buyer's remorse.

Three Reasons To Consider Leasing a Semi Truck Over Buying One

by Milla Halko

Whether you are running a small, one-truck company or one that manages a fleet of semi trucks traveling all over the country, there can be advantages to leasing trucks over buying them. Before you go out and buy a brand new truck, take a look at the options from several manufacturers and talk to the dealer. There are dealers that specialize in leasing trucks and can help you get set up if this is the route you want to go.

Maintenance Costs and Warranties

Leasing is common in the car market while leasing semi trucks is less common. But you might find that it saves you money in the long run. If you are running a leased truck, the maintenance on the truck may be covered by the lease company. This is not always the case but may be an option so you will want to ask. Also, the warranty on the truck is a lot like that on a car. They are typically set up for a time or mileage limit so if you are leasing, you could realistically replace the truck before the warranty runs out. While you will continually have a lease payment, in the long run, it may be cheaper than having increasingly higher maintenance bills as the truck gets older and accumulates mileage.

Testing New Models

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive a different truck model or maybe switching manufacturers completely? Leasing opens up the options to you, allowing you to turn a truck in and get into a different one without the headache of selling your old truck and buying a new one. If you are not sure you will like the new option but want to try it out for a short period of time, leasing the truck for a short time might be a good way to do that. If the truck does not perform to your standards, talk to the leasing company about swapping it for something else.

Replacement In Case of a Breakdown

Another benefit of leasing your new semi comes in if the truck breaks down. If you are leasing it, talk to the leasing company about a replacement of a loaner if you have downtime due to a breakdown. Often, if the truck is going to be down for more than a day or two, they can get you into another truck and back out on the road so you can continue making money. The leasing company knows that if you are down, you are not making money and in most cases will work with you to get you back to work. This is something you may want to ask about when you are looking at trucks though.
